Closet Overflowing? Plan a Clothing Exchange
'Tis the season for gift giving and pre and post-Christmas sales. If your closet wasn't overflowing before, it may be soon. So, what to do with all the duds you or family members rarely wear or have outgrown? Why not plan a clothing exchange.
An exchange is easy to plan. All you need are friends who also have overflowing closets or growing children. Choose a location, date and time, offer coffee and maybe cookies and have fun. This is an excellent activity for a church women's group or a group of neighbors or co-workers.
Your exchange might be limited to certain types of clothing, such as professional wear or children's clothing. If you have enough space, you might display different types of clothing in different rooms or areas of a large room. You will need tables and clothing/coat racks for display, both of which can be rented, if necessary. Folding laundry drying racks work well for displaying children's clothing. Guests may want to try on items, so having a full length mirror or two will be helpful.
After the exchange the left over clothing can be taken home by the person who brought it or it can be donated in a variety of ways.
