It's that time of year - time for wedding mania to begin. It's that time when couples suddenly realize "We're getting married this year! There is so much to do! Where do we start?" Never fear; with January comes wedding show season. The biggest and oldest is the Wedding Party Show. It has been wowing brides for over 35 years with more than 100 merchants, fashion shows, fabulous decor, and everything you need for your perfect day. This year's show is January 9 and 10, 2016 at Boise Centre on the Grove, downtown Boise. Cost is $8 at the door (cash only). One thousand dollars in gift certificates will be given away to a lucky bride after each fashion show.

Wedding show season is fast approaching in southwestern Idaho beginning with the 34th annual Wedding Party Show January 5 and 6, 2013 at Boise Centre on the Grove. The Wedding Party Show is the area's oldest and largest show, attracting upwards of 1,000 brides, plus grooms, mothers, sisters and others for a total attendance of over 5,000. Over 100 merchants, including caterers, photographers, florists, musicians and DJs, wedding planners, venue owners and others will be available to share ideas and discuss your wedding plans. The Wedding Party show will be followed in quick succession by three smaller shows to be held in various locations around the valley. The 32nd annual Wedding Party Show was this weekend. Over 1,150 brides came through along with grooms, parents, friends and others. In total, nearly 5,000 people attended. The show provided an opportunity for brides to connect with over 100 vendors who can provide the services needed for the perfect wedding. We had the opportunity to discuss locations, decor and other ideas with many of the attendees, including a group of high school students who are planning their prom. We were impressed with the vendors who reached out to the girls, offering discounts to their small school and one who offered to give a discount on tuxedos and donate a portion of each tux rental back to the school. Merchants like that make our community a great place to live. It is going to be a great year for weddings in southern Idaho!

If you are engaged or about to become engaged, you won't want to miss the 30th annual Wedding Party Show next weekend, January 9 and 10, at Boise Centre on the Grove. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $5 at the door. Over 100 merchants will be on hand to help with all your wedding planning needs. Gift certificates valued at $1,000 will be given away after each fashion show. Shows are at noon and 3 p.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Ten gift certificates, each valued at $100, can be redeemed with participating merchants, helping significantly reduce the costs of your wedding. The show started thirty years ago when two local business women, one the owner of a bridal salon and the other the co-owner of a rental center, decided that Boise needed a wedding show. The Wedding Party Show, Boise's oldest and largest wedding show has come and gone and what a show it was. Nearly 900 brides streamed through in two days and they were in a buying mood. Usually, calls trickle in over a period of weeks and months. Not this time. I booked 4 weddings the day after the show ended and have booked two more since. And the show ended only three days ago! If the response is any indication, this will be a great year for events.

Our annual wedding show, the Wedding Party Show, held yesterday and today, was the best ever. We set record attendance numbers, both for the number of brides who attended and the total guests who attended. In addition to the paid advertising, we sent out press releases to several section editors of our local newspaper and to other daily and weekly papers, radio and TV stations in the area. The press releases generated three stories and a number of listings on community calendars. The people who attended were serious about their planning, not just browsing, and they were booking merchants right and left. If the show was an indication, 2005 should be a banner wedding year.

Our newly redesigned web site went live yesterday - yeah! It has been two months of changes and technology challenges to get it up, but hopefully it will be an even better marketing tool than the previous one.
