Funerals are Events Too

I was approached by a funeral home seeking someone to team with them to assist families dealing with some of the issues surrounding a death. When a loved one passes, many decisions have to be made quickly - notifying family and friends, choosing the location for the service and a burial site, music, flowers, officiant and much more. If the death was unexpected, the family may be in shock and overwhelmed by all the decisions. Even a death after a lingering illness can be stressful. So many details, so little time.

Securing the assistance of an event planner to handle some of the details can help relieve some of the already stressed family's burden. Most funerals are followed by a family dinner. If the majority of the family will come from out of town, they may not know where to hold a dinner or what to serve.  We can help choose a location and arrange for food. We can also help with hotel reservations for out of town family and friends and arrange transportation.

The next time you or a friend faces a death or another difficult life situation, consider asking an event planner if she will help you through the process. A planner who really cares about her clients will be happy to assist, often at a very nominal price.
